Here is further information on the home insurance settlement process.

THE INSURANCE COMPANY’S ESTIMATE:
To settle your claim an adjuster will assess and estimate the full cost to repair the damage that has occurred.

Most discrepancies occur when an adjuster has not assessed the same amount of damage as the contractor.

Adjusters will use guidebooks, market surveys, and past claims as a basis for the estimate.

If the adjuster’s estimate is less than the contractors, we will get the necessary funds approved for your repair.

After the repairs are completed your insurance company will pay the remaining funds and any depreciation money.

Our company handles numerous insurance claims every year and we will be glad to work with your adjuster.

We can repair any work that your adjuster has assessed for a price that is agreeable to both them and us.

MY ADJUSTER SAID “NO DAMAGE”
Your roof may have been the only one on the block that did not receive enough damage to justify replacing the roof.

However, it is very easy to miss. Your adjuster and insurance company want you to have a new roof if you need one.

We can meet with your adjuster, show him our assessment of damage and work out the price of the repair.

“WE DIDN’T GET ENOUGH MONEY TO COVER OUR REPAIRS!”

Usually your claim is fine and depreciation covers the rest; or additional costs could have been missed.

Replacement cost insurance covers additional items after final invoices are submitted for the damage repairs.
COMMONLY MISSED ROOFING ITEMS:
Square footage, additional layers tear off expense, pitch charges, detached garages and storage sheds.

Gutters, wood shingles rotten under composition roof, temporary repairs, etc.

SHOULD I INSPECT MY OWN ROOF?

When there is hail or high winds you should have your roof inspected by an experienced contractor.

Hail can damage your roof without any visual signs from the ground.

Usually, hail has to be the size of golf balls before it actually breaks through your shingles.

High winds or hail for longer than a minute will bruise and crack shingles reducing the life expectancy of your roof.

Heat, cold and rain will cause your roof to lose granules and prematurely wear out in those spots.

Five or more bruises in a 10 x 10 area ‘ of your roof and it will need to be completely replaced.

It is nearly impossible to determine if you have hail damage from the ground.
